This course is designed to expose your student to world authors and their take on their experiences. The major literary work studied in this course is Victor Hugo's Les Miserables, a brilliant work on humanity and conflict. This course includes short stories, precis studies, current event reviews, a study of irony in the Book of Job, poetry from around the world, timed essay practice, Cornell note-taking method, a thorough research paper, etc. Two texts needed: Les Miserables and All But My Life by Gerda Weissman Klein. I recommend a supplementary grammar text for students who need additional review. Grammar Usage & Mechanics Levels J-K (review which one would suit your student best).
